Supportive Services


Domestic Law Legal Clinics

Women are able to meet in a small group with an attorney who specializes in Domestic Law to determine her rights and options with regard to separation, divorce, child custody and property issues.  The clinics last approximately 1 1/2 hours and are held every two weeks.

Attorney Hotline

Volunteer Domestic Law attorneys staff the Attorney hotline twice monthly.  Women are given the opportunity to speak privately with an attorney for 10 - 15 minutes to their rights and options with regard domestic legal issues.  This service is free of charge.  Call the Center at (919) 829-3711 for additional information regarding the Attorney Hotline.

Free HIV and STD Testing and Counseling

In collaboration with the Wake County Department of Health and Human Services, the Center offers free, confidential HIV testing and counseling each Tuesday evening from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. at the Women's Center at 128 E. Hargett St., Suite 10, Raleigh, NC.

SHAPE

This program addresses the issues surrounding STD prevention.

SWITCH

This Center program offers women sex workers supportive services as they attempt to make significant changes in their lives.

Mentor Advocacy (case management)

Individual and group services which range form assessment of strengths and needs to full support in attaining and maintaining their goal of self-sufficiency.

Financial Assistance Counseling

assessment of financial need, budget review and providing financial aid (to prevent eviction, utility disconnect, deposits on housing, prescription medications, etc.).

Crisis Counseling

Assist clients in immediate crisis (in person or by phone) and provide needed services or referrals for clients.

Supportive Employment

Greeting Card enterprise provides structured work program for  women with mental health disabilities (unable to participate in regular employment market) augmenting their income and enhancing their self-esteem and self-efficacy.
