Guidelines for Volunteers Hosting Workshops

  1. Upon arrival, please have one member of the volunteer team sign in at the receptionist desk and sign out a key. The key will provide access to the kitchen, lunchroom and bathroom.

  2. Morning workshops are held 10am-11am and afternoon workshops are held 1pm-2pm. Women will be eating lunch in our lunchroom from 11:30am-12:30pm.

  3. Workshops are held in our multipurpose room to the left of our lunchroom. For craft workshops, please feel free to use any of the art supplies in our cabinets, as supplies allow.

  4. We are a drop in shelter, so there is no way to anticipate how many women will be in our facility on any given day, nor how many women would like to participate in the workshops. But, as a general rule, you can plan for 1-15 women.

  5. Many of our women have experienced trauma and/or struggle with mental illness. Please feel free to offer fellowship and words of encouragement to clients. But, please refrain from offering counseling or advice. If a client is in need of support, please contact any staff member for assistance.

  6. Please clean up after the workshop and leave the room set up as you found it.

  7. Please do not take photos, video or make Facebook Live posts of women at our center without prior approval. Please contact Viki Redding for approval.

We sincerely thank you for your kindness, compassion and service in providing this workshop for our guests at Women’s Center of Wake County!
