The Women's Center is a crisis intervention and assessment center offering safety and stabilization for women experiencing homelessness in Wake County. Located at 2200 New Bern Ave in downtown Raleigh, we provide a wide range of services to meet the needs of women who are experiencing homelessness. If you are homeless and in need of assistance, you are welcome at The Women's Center.

Please check in at the front desk to complete an intake Monday-Friday 8:15AM - 1:30PM. The intake will last approximately 30 minutes. Once complete, you will have access to the following services:

  • Meals:
    Breakfast: 8:30am
    Lunch: 11:30am

  • Clothing Closet:
    Provides women access to undergarments, pants, shirts, shoes, coats, accessories, personal hygiene products, and other items they may need.

  • Basic Needs:
    Guests have access to Basic Needs, such as hygiene and toiletry items, such as feminine products, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothbrush & toothpaste, and incontinence supplies.

  • Behavioral Healthcare:
    Advance Community Health is onsite each Tuesday from 9am-1:00pm.

    • Behavioral Health Counseling

    • Substance Abuse Counseling

    • Pharmacy Services (provided through ACH Pharmacy in Southeast Raleigh)

  • Day Storage:
    We provide day storage where women may leave their belongings while receiving assistance at The Women’s Center.

  • Documents, Benefits, Resources, and Referrals:
    The Women’s Center provides access to computers, phones, fax, and printer. This allows women to secure necessary documents, apply for benefits, and access resources and referrals. We also provide critical and necessary services through case managers, who are able to help women navigate systems in obtaining vital documents, such as Social Security Cards, Birth Certificates, ID’s, Licenses, insurance, housing, employment, and education documents.

  • Housing Support:
    Case managers work with each woman to assist her in obtaining or completing documents necessary to secure affordable housing,
    as well as provide referrals to housing resources. Case managers work with guests to identify individually appropriate housing, make connections and referrals as necessary, and assist guests in securing safe, permanent housing.

  • Instructional and Enrichment Workshops:
    The Women's Center staff and volunteers provide a wide array of enrichment/empowerment classes and workshops throughout the day on topics such as housing, budgeting and banking, life skills, yoga, breathing/stress management, addiction recovery, nutrition, yoga, self-defense, art, Bible study, cookie decorating, among others.

  • Transportation/Bus Passes: (On-hold - Buses are free at this time)
    Case managers provide bus passes to women as they are available to assist women in traveling to and from overnight shelters, doctor appointments, job and housing searches and more. (Wake County continues to provide free bus transportation.)
